The HungreeApp is a pioneering solution designed to address critical local and global challenges related to hunger, food waste, and mental health. The app seamlessly connects “Providers” (restaurants/catering, individuals, offices, universities, farming communities, neighborhoods, and more) with recipients (“Hungrees”) within a defined geographical area. Its mission is simple: to create a scalable, effective network (where surplus food is redistributed to those who want), promoting sustainability and community well-being, and overall, a more equitable society.

John’s brainchild, The HungreeApp, has garnered significant attention, accolades, and interests, including discussions with the Colorado Department of Higher Education, endorsements from international dignitaries from First Lady to Ambassadors, and most recently featuring in The Denver Post. The platform’s aforementioned goals align with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, showcasing its potential for global impact.
A Licensed and SPE-Certified Petroleum Engineer, John has profound expertise in reservoir engineering and simulation. His contributions to the field are well-documented through numerous publications and recently in his pivotal role as a key expert witness in a crucial US Federal litigation case, defending the fair treatment of Native American mineral rights.
With an M.S. and B.S. in Petroleum Engineering and Electrical Engineering, respectively, from the Colorado School of Mines, his professional journey has led him from developing petroleum engineering applications optimizing data analysis, to pioneering research in numerical reservoir simulation and lab experimental design, to leading multidisciplinary subsurface studies and technical consulting. He has authored several influential papers and provided training worldwide, covering topics in reservoir management, simulation, and production engineering optimization. His career has taken him across the globe, contributing to major national and international energy companies, where he has consistently optimized production and provided strategic economic insights. Furthermore, In the field of tech, he has developed applications licensed by government departments in the US to conveniently and effortlessly track, evaluate, analyze and report a multitude of performance metrics for students participating in federally funded social education programs.
Beyond engineering, as a great leader, he has served in several roles, receiving multiple achievement and service awards, and has been actively involved in programs supporting inner-city youth and educational initiatives, and most applicably, providing food and nutrition to his local community.
John is a polyglot who’s gifted in acting, piano, singing, and cooking, with performances featured at international film festivals including both The Cannes Film Festival and Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, weddings, and special events. His work and connections in film has spurred interest by a French-American co-production company, soon planning to create a docufilm on the platform’s potential and impact in our world.
